Nui Beach, Phuket Offers an Exclusive Experience
A birds-eye view of Nui Beach, Phuket

There are many stunning tropical beaches ringing Phuket. However, most of them are close to roads and civilization. Many visitors to Phuket long to escape the crowds and find an unspoiled tropical beach in paradise that they can walk along in blissful solitude, but these can be hard to find on such a popular island as Phuket.

Nui Beach is a rare, hidden treasure of a Phuket beach. It's located far from the well-traveled roads of the coast and so often goes unnoticed by tourists and visitors looking for the perfect beach. We’ll offer a review of Nui Beach and directions for getting there so you can experience a serene tropical paradise treasure on your Phuket family vacation.

Getting to Nui Beach

First off, there’s also a Yanui Beach in Phuket that shouldn’t be confused with Nui Beach. Yanui Beach is located between Windmill Viewpoint and Promthep Cape, and it’s close to the road, so it attracts more visitors.

Nui Beach is between Nai Harn Beach and Kata Beach, which is a few kilometers north. It's a bit of an adventure to get to Nui Beach, so the best idea is to hire a driver for the family or rent a car to access it. There’s a truck that will take you down and back from the beach to the main road for THB 200, but you'll have to get to the private road turnoff on your own.

From Karon Viewpoint, take Route 4030 south until you see a private road heading off to the right with signs for Nui Beach. Nui Beach is at the end of this 2-kilometer road that winds down the hill from Route 4030.

The road is challenging and may require a 4-wheel drive in the rainy season. There is a THB 200 entry fee per person to use the road.

What to Expect

Your kids can enjoy the swings at Nui Beach

Once you've reached the bottom of the hill, you'll be welcomed by the sight of a small beach of coarse sand, ringed by swaying coconut trees and looking out over clear and calm turquoise waters.

A few beach umbrellas can be rented, but the beach is free of the typical clutter of beach chairs, and you can stroll along the sands in peace. Large boulders frame both ends of the beach and make inviting snorkeling areas to explore (you should bring your own snorkeling gear).

When you need a break from the sun, head to a large bamboo restaurant called the Water Beach Club and order some Thai food and cold drinks while you gaze out at the quiet paradise surrounding you. Nui Beach is a tourist attraction in Thailand simply for relaxing, snorkeling or enjoying a meal and a cold drink. The beach, palm trees, boulders, and turquoise waters also create an Instagram-friendly spot, so be sure to charge up your phone before making the journey!
